About usOur services are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. With this understanding in mind, we provide after-school tutoring, field trips, creative writing workshops, in-school Writers’ Rooms, college essay assistance, help for English Language Learners, and in-depth publishing projects.
Service program826 Boston AmeriCorps Writers’ Room Fellowship 826 Boston supports 15 AmeriCorps members who tutor students and train volunteers in 826 Boston Writers' Rooms in Boston Public Schools. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for increasing writing confidence and ability in students. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional 500 volunteers that will be engaged in supporting project-based learning in each Writers' Room site.

Key Responsibilities and Functions

  • Assist with expanding 826 Boston’s Science Fair Boot Camp program to serve more students in addition to diversifying our STEM tutor corps to provide representative STEM field volunteers as mentors for students.
  • Partner with existing 826 Boston in-schools programs to support school-based science fair programs
  • Assist with evaluating existing curriculum resource library and developing new resources focused on supporting students in writing science reports
  • Develop a series of training modules to prepare 826 Boston staff,
