SCI Social Capital Inc.

About usFor 15 years, SCI has been increasing social capital and community engagement in Eastern Massachusetts communities. In the process, SCI has developed tools, program models, trainings and other resources to help communities boost their social capital and thus better tackle issues of concern. Many studies have shown social capital, social networks and community engagement to be crucial for positive community outcomes.
Positions

Network for Social Justice (Winchester)

At Network for Social Justice (NFSJ), the SCI AmeriCorps member will:

●  Participate fully in all SCI AmeriCorps orientations and trainings
●  Help realize NFSJ’s mission to foster a movement for systemic change to advance equity and inclusion in the town of Winchester and beyond
●  Support the expansion of NFSJ’s youth internship program with students from local schools,

James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn

At James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club of Woburn (Club), the SCI AmeriCorps member will:

●  Participate fully in all SCI AmeriCorps orientations and trainings
●  Help realize Club’s mission to inspire youth to find their greatness
●  Expand and provide the service opportunities of Club through direct youth programming, activities and organizational projects
●  Collaborate on how Club recruits,

SCI Woburn - Events/Development

At SCI Woburn, the SCI AmeriCorps member will:

●  Participate fully in all SCI AmeriCorps orientations and member trainings
●  Assist in the planning and coordination of SCI Woburn’s annual volunteer and community events (e.g. Leaf Raking/Snow Shoveling for Seniors, WorldFest, and Juneteenth Woburn)
●  Support the development and implementation of SCI Woburn youth-oriented programs (e.g.

At Social Capital Inc. (SCI), the SCI AmeriCorps member will:

●  Participate fully in all SCI AmeriCorps orientations and trainings
●  Assist the continuing development and maintenance of SCI’s volunteer management systems and associated data collection processes
●  Collaborate with SCI staff on volunteer engagement systems, processes, and communication
●  Support the ongoing development and implementation of SCI’s youth-oriented programs (e.g.

Girls Inc. of Lynn

At Girls Inc. of Lynn, the SCI AmeriCorps member will:

●  Participate fully in all SCI AmeriCorps orientations and trainings
●  Help realize Girls Inc.’s mission to inspire all girls to be Strong, Smart and Bold by meeting the needs of the girls in the community, developing girls’ capacity to overcome the effects of discrimination, be self-sufficient,

Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB), the SCI AmeriCorps member will:

●  Participate fully in all SCI AmeriCorps orientations and trainings
●  Help realize BGCB’s mission to help young people build strong character and realize their full potential as responsible citizens and leaders
●  Gain valuable insight and experience in both back office and frontline operations of a leading youth-serving organization in Boston,

Friends of the Rafael Hernández School (Boston)

At Friends of the Rafael Hernández School (FOH), the SCI AmeriCorps member will:

●  Participate fully in all SCI AmeriCorps orientations and trainings
●  Help realize mission of FOH in supporting and advocating for the Rafael Hernández K-8 Dual Language Immersion School and the surrounding community by contributing to the cultural fabric of the neighborhood and increasing access to high-quality enrichment programs

Kids in Tech (Lowell, Boston)

At Kids in Tech (KIT), the SCI AmeriCorps member will:

●  Participate fully in all SCI AmeriCorps orientations and trainings
●  Participate fully in KIT trainings, resulting in industry-approved certifications
●  Tutor and mentor youth (ages 8-14) in Lowell and/or Boston public schools as an after-school KIT Tech Club junior instructor in STEM subjects
●  Help lead weekly meetings and activities of after-school Tech Clubs

Mass Poetry - Boston

At Mass Poetry, the SCI AmeriCorps member will:

●  Participate fully in all SCI AmeriCorps orientations and trainings
●  Assist in growing an inclusive audience and volunteer base for the Mass Poetry Festival
●  Train, coordinate and manage volunteers under supervision of Mass Poetry staff
